Star Wars: The Nightmare of Kelas Kair  Pt. 1

Tk-921 moved through his patrol as quickly as he could, not enjoying the lonely corridors that knit through the complex.  Whatever the New Empire wanted on this desolate world was beyond him.  With all of the technical failures they had experienced ever since touching down, and the fact that they were in Galactic Alliance space, the stormtrooper was understandably nervous.  The disappearances of personnel didn’t help either.
Neither did the noises he heard in his quarters at night: a scuttling in the wall…and sometimes if he listened closely, a hissing.  He shook himself and made sure his E-11 blaster was ready.  He turned a corner and there was a buzzing sound, causing the man to jump and bring up his blaster, pointed at an empty corridor.  He near slapped himself when he realized it was only his comlink activating.
“Tk-921, respond, over.” The crackle of system command ordered.  The trooper brought his hand up to his helmet.
“Command this is Tk-921, over.  Orders?”
“We are picking up a unregistered thermal signature near your current location, over.”
“Advise?”
“What do you think trooper? Investigate. Command out.”
I was afraid you’d say that the trooper thought to himself.  He activated the HUD in his helmet to pick up the coordinates command had sent him.   After five minutes of intense walking, he reached a dead end, with a small ladder leading down.
“Maintenance shaft…someone in there?”  he asked himself.  Then, in a louder voice, he called down “IS ANYBODY IN THERE! MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN! EMPIRE SECURITY!”
Nothing…just a faint dripping.
“Command I think we may have a leakage.”  He whispered into his com.
“Investigate.” The cold voice came back.  He frowned; why? He wasn’t Engineering.
He holstered his blaster and climbed down the ladder into a small chute, and a small ventilation shaft.  As he moved along, his HUD picked something up.
“Command I’m getting movement…and it’s not me. Is Engineering in here?”
“Negative, trooper. You’re all that’s there.”
The trooper pointed his blaster ahead.  He activated the small light on his helmet, illuminating the shaft.  He felt something strange, and looked down at what his hand had landed in.  A small puddle of slime greeted his eyes.  He frowned again.
“Command we may have a bioform…”  There was a crackle…and static. “Command? Hello?”
Nothing.
“Dammit”  He kept his blaster pointed ahead and moved.  His light caught something to the left and he pointed his blaster quick, only to put it down.
“Huh?”
He was looking at what appeared to be some kind of egg, and when he shined his light on the membrane, he thought he could see something squirming inside.  He moved closer, and one of the hydraulic lines next to him broke, spraying fluid all over his helmet.  He growled and tore it off, needing visibility.  He grabbed the line to keep it from leaking and tied up the two severed ends.  That’s when he saw the egg move.  He turned to look at it, putting his helmet on the ground.  He moved up to the egg, blaster trained on it.  Then…it opened, moving just like a flower in bloom.  The astonished man moved forward, looking down into the egg.   It was milky white within, and he saw something that looked just like a spine slither away.  Then, before the trooper had time to react, he saw something that looked like a sort of hand with a tail fly out, and grab onto his face.  He felt something enter his mouth and the tail wrap around his neck.  He screamed, trying to fight the thing off, but he couldn’t . He fell to the shaft floor, and wriggled, trying to keep consciousness.
The last thing Tk-921 knew before going into unconsciousness was the feel of two hands…no, claws, grab the plastech shoulders of his armor, and begin dragging him away.
